Jesus Is EXACTLY What We Need

Luke 19:10: For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

Psalms 46:1: God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

In the moments and months before I received Jesus, I knew I was in desperate need of something. I didn*t even know what. I am so thankful that He revealed to me that He was what I needed. I was lost and would have been forever lost if He did not save me. I was in trouble from which that I could not extricate myself. I was overwhelmed by my sin and inability to stop it. I was miserable. If you have never been aware that you were horribly lost and helpless without Christ, it is doubtful that you are saved. If you have never been painfully aware of your need for the refuge that He is, you have probably not sought Him. A refuge and strength is exactly what we need.

Charles Haddon Spurgeon on Matthew 11:28: Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

We are told that in stormy weather it is not unusual for small birds to be blown out of sight of land on to the sea. They are often seen by voyagers far from the coast, hovering over the masts on weary wings as if they wanted to alight and rest themselves, but fearing to do so. A traveler tells us that on one occasion, a little lark, which followed the ship for a considerable distance, was at last compelled through sheer weariness to alight. He was so worn out as to be easily caught. The warmth of the hand was so agreeable to him that he sat down on it, burying his little cold feet in his feathers, and looking about with his bright eye not in the least afraid, and as if feeling assured that he had been cast amongst good kind people whom he had no occasion to be so backward in trusting. This is a touching picture of the soul who is aroused by the Spirit of God and blown out of its own reckoning by the winds of conviction; and the warm reception which the weary little bird received at the hands of the passengers conveys but a faint idea of that welcome which will greet the worn out, sin sick souls who will commit themselves into the hands of the only Savior.
